"Aptitudes Questionnaire" (Questionnaire of talents)

In Zespół Szkół im. W. Witosa  in Sucha Beskidzka 28 pupils took part in the questionnaire survey from the second and third class of the Economic Technical Vocational School (TE )a nd  the Technical Vocational School of Nourishment and Catering Services (TG)

Questions in the questionnaire concerned different talents and were divided in 8 areas:

  • l (General learning aptitude) - abilities of the learning
  • V (Verbal aptitude) - verbal abilities
  • N (Numerical aptitude) - abilities to use numbers
  • S (Spatial representation aptitude) - perceptivities of the space
  • P (Processing documents aptitude) - abilities of the document processing
  • C (Eye - hand Coordination aptitude) - abilities of the coordination eye - hand
  • M (Manual dexterity) - manual dexterity
  • D (Digital dexterity) - abilities to use devices

In accordance with carried out research the students prove the most ability  in area M (Manual dexterity) – that is the manual dexterity . The high results obtained also in the area D (Digital dexterity) and in the area P (Processing documents aptitude). Surveyed students proved also the large  eye – hand coordination aptitude.

As follows from a diagram identically young people of Economic Technical School , as well as the students from the Technical Vocational School of Nourishment and Catering achieve high results in space of manual dexterity (M). Note should be taken, that the students of class of TE show  mainly more abilities in space of "processing of documents" (P). Ability of sorting of data, classification of documents, correction of errors or searching of information probably will be used in their future professional work e.g. related to the book-keeping. In turn the students of gastronomic classes use small devices efficiently (Digital dexterity)

According to the conducted research students show the least ability in the “S area” (Spatial representation aptitude) - that is perceiving the space. There are skills  causing surveyed students a lot of problems, especially "making three-dimensional drawings", "applying appropriate proportions at drawing observed objects" and "the evaluation of the size and distances in the photograph". The students prove also less ability in the areas L (General learning aptitude) and V (Verbal aptitude).

Comparing the weakest results in two types of profession, it can be evidently stated, that the students of gastronomic classes show less abilities in "perception of space" - (S) also "operating by numbers" (N). Young people of classes of economic technical school have most difficulties in the areas L  "General learning aptitude" and  also V "verbal aptitude".

Area I - L (General learning aptitude)

Questions in this area checked general abilities of the learning. How it results from the survey "understanding the instruction of the game" causes students  the lowest difficulty and "correct evaluation of events", often "they think before they act". The most problems cause surveyed  "solving mathematical problems" and "active participating in debates".

Area  II – V (Verbal aptitude)

Questions in the area II concerned the ability of the verbal intercommunication. Respondents "easily  start  chat, efficiently "clarify issues others" and have no difficulty  with "understanding words in the text in the one's mother tongue". They have the most problems with creating and elaborating the text  (with "writing the essay", with "analyzing the text" and with "the summary and formulating the main  thought of the text".

Area III – N (Numerical aptitude)

Questions in this area checked the degree of the efficiency of operation by numbers. Students do not have problems with using  money and carry out  basic activities on the numbers without trouble and are able proficiently to fill documents requiring writing numbers down. Most difficulty causes them  complicated mathematical activities and searching for mistakes in mathematical calculations”.

Area IV – S (Spatial representation aptitude)

Questions in this area checked the abilities of the imagining. Students have difficulty to  imagine buildings, in-build areas on the basis of a plan.  These are  skills causing quite a lot of di, particularly the accomplishment of three-dimensional drawings”,  use of appropriate proportions with observed streaking of objects” and the assessment of size and distance on photography”.

Area V – P (Processing documets aptitude)

Questions from the V area checked the ability of the "document processing". Polled efficiently seek surnames in a phone book,  check the correctness of calculations and are able "to use data from the table". The greatest difficulty for them is "switching away from one language to another and producing a report, statistic and translation of the text, containing numbers.

Area VI – C (eye – hand Coordination aptitude)

Questions from this area concerned the ability of the coordination "eye - hand". Examined pupils have a well educated coordination. With ease  search in the picture for different objects, ride a bike, can stick nails and cut different shapes out. Activities which cause respondents the greater difficulty are:  assembling the parts of some mechanism together", "arranging  complicated elements of a jigsaw puzzle", "building the tower from objects".

Area VII – M (Manual dexterity)

In the VII area manual abilities were checked.  Generally pupils don't have  problems with activities requiring exploiting manual abilities. Particularly efficiently use tools, don't have problems around "with guidance with handlebar" but  they are not very good at  catching and  cleaning small objects"

Area VIII – D (Digital dexterity)

Final questions concerned the digital dexterity. Respondents have no problems with texting, using the keyboard  for mathematical calculations. They have some difficulties with putting up the things and building and assembling objects requiring precise moves of fingers.
